10 Songs That Inspired My Dystopian Novel (1)

Love scenes! I have always been challenged in that department. In my earlier drafts, I either went overboard, or the kisses were underwhelming. Since I write for young adults, it is sometimes difficult to find the right level of heat. I was lucky to come across a song that could inspire me.

Enly Saint Claire is fortunate. She attends an elite academy, is the heir to a billion-dollar fortune, and is betrothed to the future Lord Regent of the Great Plains. But what she desires most is her half-brother Jonah’s freedom. Jonah has been enslaved because of his mother’s mistakes. Enly plans to free Jonah when she becomes a lady regent. That plan backfires when her betrothed decides to marry someone else. Now Enly will do anything to free her half-brother, even if it means rejecting the love of her life.

I searched for a love song that was romantic and sensual..Though, all of the songs I listen to were great, they did not inspire me to write about Enly and Matthew. Then, I discovered a song by chance. My sister had “PILLOWTALK” playing in er car. It was some thing about that Melody along with a Voice of the singer that drew me in. My imagination went wild! But, I only put the PG scenes in my novel. If you’re curious about some of the other songs that inspired me and want to hear a sample of the audiobook, my playlist can be found below.
